Also, often colleges and universities want the drinking age to be 18. This is because while the legal drinking age is 21 there are more problems with the colleges students getting in trouble for drinking under the age limit. Also, they think that legal drinking may cut down alcohol related deaths. Plus, people that aren’t old enough to drink tend to drink more then they should because of the uncertainty of the next time they will be able to drink again.
One of the reasons there are so many alcohol related deaths among teens is because when they aren’t legal they drink a lot more because they don’t know if they will drink again any time soon. A 21 year old and an 18 year old are both legal adults. So they should be able to both get alcohol when ever they want. It just doesn’t make sense why the drinking age is 21. For example, if someone’s dad told his son or daughter that they can move out when they are 18, when they move out they have to take care of themselves. If someone is able to take of their selves at the age of 18 then they should be able to drink alcohol. Also, you are legally able to get married at 18. That’s a little dumb how you cant drink at your own wedding.
