Sometimes I wonder if teachers truly realize the impact they have on a child’s life. We teachers are with the child for majority of their day. The child wakes up, comes to school for eight hours, go home, eat dinner, and do it all over again. I cry as I type this response because education and educating is so important to me. My mom would put my siblings and I on the bus and go start her work day. She didn’t get off until eight o’clock that night. I had an hour with my mom before it was time to go to bed for school. Therefore, I know how important teachers are. As educators we are playing a very influential role in children lives. We should be the example of what we want our students to be. Let every child in your classroom know that you love them. Let them know you love them regardless of their race, gender, or economic background. Teach them that we should accept our peers for who they are. Express to the children that you have the same expectations for them all, and that expectations if for them to become productive members of society. We have to break the chains of racism, discrimination, and equality, and the only way to do this is by teaching the upcoming generation, that it’s
