Furthermore, racial profiling is when people of color are portrayed in a certain way, as they believe they will commit a crime and thus will be found dangerous. These two themes are heavily present in the city of Chicago, as the Chicago police are known to target minorities (black individuals preferably) and by using racial profiling with the stereotypical norms portrayed by African-Americans, as they become an easy target. For that reason, this reminds me of my own experience of when my brother and I were walking to a friend’s house in Streamwood, as police raided a house party close to where we were walking and because we were minorities the police singled us out as if we were part of that house party. Without any explanation as to why my brother and I were singled out when there were other individuals walking as well, this demonstrated how police used racial profiling to gather minorities even if they are innocent of a crime. The policewoman used the stereotypical norm for us as being Latino and just being suspicious for walking close to where the house was being raided. She assumed we were part of that party without questioning the other individuals that were walking on the sidewalk as well. This raises the issue of how the police conduct their line of work, which is prominently focused on racial profiling of people of color and the stereotypes they hold. As a consequence, the police will use these tactics to make a wrongful arrest of individuals solely based on color and the stigma that they have towards that individual’s ethnic background instead of looking at the facts at
