“We can never be satisfied as long as the Negro is the victim of unspeakable horrors of police brutality” (King 360). This statement is one of the most relatable things said in his essay because even now in 2016, this is one of the biggest issues that the African Americans have been dealing with. So many African Americans are being abused or shot and killed by the police. Things have escalated so much, so very quickly with the death of so many people, that it led to the creation of “#BlackLivesMatter”. It was made to show that the African American race means just as much as anyone else and that other people should understand that and should support that. “We cannot be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with fatigue of travel, cannot gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities”(King pg. 360). We still fight racism everyday, when we shouldn’t. We work just as hard if not harder than anyone else and we don 't get the recognition that we deserve. We try to defend ourselves on social media or just in life and we get pushed down back into oppression because thats all we seemed to talk about. The African Americans of today will not accept gradualism. Like Martin said and believed, and that millions of people believe know as well, African Americans deserves to be equal just like everyone else.
