40-year-old, mother of three, Rachel Warris will undergo a psychological evaluation before sentencing. The first-time offender will be sentenced next month and could face more than 10 years in state prison. She will also be registered as a sex offender on Megan’s Law for the rest of her life. I do generally believe women sexually abusing children happens less often than men, but I suspect much more are underreported. I do think psychological factors caused her to commit the crime. The Warris’s may have had reached an obstacle within their marriage. Mr.Warris may have been abusive or sexually assaulting Mrs.Warris and this was her way of taking action. In this scenario she had the ability to take complete control. I can relate this to the reason why women rob other women. A child is a weak and easy target and an opportunity for a female to express their masculinity. Rachel may have also been seeking out a relationship with the young boy that she had not been receiving at home. It is said that some women who have abused children misinterpreted their behaviors as sexual invitations. I believe that any mother that views a child sexually has experienced a history of trauma or victimization. Women are looked at as the nurturers, those who look after children, not take advantage of them for their own desires.
