In the New York Times they states, “Putin is a strongman who has helped stabilize the country’s economy and politics while gradually deepening an authoritarian regime.” What New York Times is saying that Putin has made Russia better with him as president. Without him then the country wouldn’t be as successful as it is now. He has changed the country with his leadership. This citizen is saying why they voted for Putin because they acknowledge what Putin has done for their country since he has been in office. Herszenhorn also states, “We know what we can expect from him.” This is just another response that Herszenhorn wrote in his article showing how the citizens voting for Putin thinks of him. The citizens from Russia have great faith in their president. They know that he will not disappoint them. In the article “A Holiday from Russia With Love” by Sara Rhodin she writes about how Putin’s new holiday(s) has changed the hearts of Russian citizens. Rhodin states, “Last year, as president, Mr. Putin declared 2008 the Year of the Family. On Sept. 12, a holiday called Family Contact Day encouraged Russians to stay home and engage in marital intimacy in the hopes of producing children on Russia Day.” With this new reform putting is trying to bring families together.
