Psychiatric Office

On Mableton Pkwy sits an office that looks like a house, but it's not a house it's a psychiatric office.I remember on the day of my interview I was scared that I had missed the real doctor's office and somehow made it to someone's house. My mind was put to rest when I spotted a Small sign in the corner that read DR.Shah’s Psychiatric office. Once I entered I was Greeted by my now supervisor Rashmi. She was intimidating but I sucked up my nervousness and followed her to her office. I was extremely nervous that day for two reasons one I wasn't the only one who wanted this internship and two I didn't know If she would like me. Long story Short I ended up getting the position on the same day she interviewed me and that's the day that my Idea of the doctor's office changed. When I started working at the doctors office I felt overwhelmed at first because this was the first time I had a great deal of responsibility If I was to mess up I could Impact the office in a bad way for example the doctor wouldn’t be able to receive payment from the insurance company because I didn't verify Insurance or a patient could run out of their medication if I forgot to call and remind them. …show more content…
As I continued through the internship I realized that there were some areas where I could Improve, one thing that my supervisor always complained about was that sometimes I could be a little forgetting which isn't a good thing. I quickly had to learn how to pay attention one way I learned to improve was to do task one at a time instead of trying to multi-task that helped me a great deal another way I learned to improve was if I forget something it was okay to ask Mrs.Shah what she had said instead of being scared of her. Another area I could improve myself in was listening there were times where I would think I heard the task correctly but it would be a completely different from what Ms.Shah had told me to do. The way I fixed this issue was to one ask questions when I didn't understand the task and two make sure to pay attention to Ms.Rashmi. by doing this it almost guarantee’s a foolproof way to get my task done in a correct manner. I could also Improve in Interaction one of my jobs in the office was to call and talk to patients I used to dread this task because I hated talking to people on the phone I would always mess up on what to say, I improved on this by Actually making a small script to say when I had to call patients I kept this script close to me when I finally memorized the script I took it down. the biggest thing I had to improve on while working at the Psychiatric office was my shyness, I was scared …show more content…
Working at Dr.Shah’s office allowed me to see the behind the scenes of a medical office There's really a lot that goes into running your own practice you have to deal with insurance, patients, Pharmacies and also the keeping of records As someone who goes to the hospital every month this experience really gave me more appreciation for medical assistants because this job isn't easy at all. I enjoyed my internship and everything it has thought

To fully understand a situation, it is important to understand the context in which it is occurring (Matei & Antonie, 2015). In the psychiatric emergency room where I work, there has been a high degree of staff turnover and change. We have a new nurse manager. Ten nurses simultaneously left full-time positions because they received a grant to attend SUNY Upstate full-time, and become psychiatric nurse practitioners, resulting in many nurses and psychiatric techs quitting, and many starting; thus the staff is mostly new. Relatively new employees (4-6 months) is now orienting newer staff.…

With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…
