Psalm 23: New Living Translation

Improved Essays
Every Psalm that I have read thus far has shown me more and more about God’s grace and how we must give him praise every single day. Not just because of the sole fact that he is our Creator but, because every day each and every one of us go through so many things and he is always there for us no matter what. He is the only one who chooses between giving us life and death, and he is the only one who continuously shows us grace above all else. In Psalm 23:1 “The Lord is my shepherd; I have all that I need” (New Living Translation). This means that I do not need anything else because God is all that I need and within him I have everything. He is the one to fulfil my every need and knows my heart so it would only make sense that he is the only one to make us feel whole. I know that I sometimes look for people to make me feel complete in a sense and I know that I am not the only one who does it. It is hard to trust and understand that God is the only one we need in our lives simply because I cannot see him and at times wonder if he is really there but I have to trust in believe even if at times its hard. “In the word shepherd, David uses the most comprehensive and intimate metaphor yet encountered in the Psalms…” (Kidner, 1973, pg.127) Even as Kidner explains how we use the Shepherd instead of any other word to describe himself, just makes it feel more like God is not here to brag per say, in a way, but more like he is a humble God. I think that Christians have made a bad name for themselves because we are supposed to show the world who we really are, loving and caring, and not so judgmental, yet we are everything but that, that’s our stereotype and God is in fact not anything but what all we have been called. Hypocrites, liars, etc. Jesus was the one to hang out with prostitutes and so on. If we are following God; in the right path; we then would be able to show the people of the world the we are in fact, not that way, at all. Time will only tell and perseverance from each Christian to tell the world about our God the right way not the “You’re going to hell type of way.” Psalm 95:10-11 …show more content…
When he comes, if I am not ready, I will not be able to enter Gods holy place and in reality, in all honesty that I where I want to be. So I need to work hard and find the Lord and work on myself through him.
Even though there are more than one meanings for the phrase “my rest” as stated by Kidner “My rest is pregnant with more than one meaning…” (Kidner, 1973, pg. 378.). I believe that for everyone God has made the word for them to understand it in their own way. Hence, the reason I believe that his resting place could be his holy place above. Either way, what really matters is that he said that the people will never enter his resting place; to think of not being able to enter anything that is holy from God would be

Psalm 35 is also known as the Psalm of David. The whole psalm is an appeal to heaven from a bold heart and a clear conscience, irritated beyond measure by oppression and hatred. Beyond a doubt David 's Lord may be seen here by the spiritual eye. Psalm 35 was written either about David and his revenge against Saul, or about a legal court: the proceedings, defense and appeal. Both ideas were split into three main parts.…
