The Prospective payment system in health care system defined the methodology in which reimbursements payment rate is determined. Despite the fact that healthcare payment on services are been predetermined in advance for a certain period, the average level of resources use for these purpose are well calculated to avoid any mistake in the implementation.
In the hospital setting, the prospective payment system provide about 90 days hospital services to beneficiaries, beside admission to acute care hospital and LTCH are included in the benefit because the beneficiaries pay cost-sharing for their LTCH service.
