Sexual assault happens every two minutes in America (Bodeep 1). That’s 720 victims everyday and more than sixty-seven percent of those victims are under the age of eighteen (Sethna 1). This is why kids needs to be taught self-defense. If we were caught in a dangerous situation and weren’t able to defend ourselves, the trauma of it could affect us for our whole lives. Most kids have parents who work full-time, so they are home alone for long periods of time. Those kids may also forget to lock their doors, making it very easy for intruders to come in.
