Pros And Cons Of Digital Marketing Vs. Traditional Marketing

Marketing geniuses in recent times have engaged in much debate about the effectiveness of traditional and digital marketing. Both methods have their respective advantages and disadvantages, and choosing a form of marketing is often down to individual choice. Traditional marketing may be more expensive, but definitely achieves its results. On the other hand, digital market is less expensive and incredibly easy if you have the right digital marketing platform. So it can be quite hard placing a distinction between which form of marketing is more effective. Not to worry. We will be exploring the pros and cons of both forms of marketing, and at the end of this article, you can decide for yourself which method better suits your company’s needs.

Traditional marketing
Before going straight into the pros and cons of traditional marketing, we need to first of all understand what it is in the first place. Traditional marketing is the basic kind of marketing and advertising that companies have been using for years. This form of marketing has already been tried and proven to be successful. It involves any form of advertising from prints to banners and pop up stands that one may find at tradeshows and exhibits; newsletters, newspaper ads and other forms of advertising. It is the form of marketing that has been in place for a long time and has been frequently employed by companies looking to reach out to consumers. Traditional marketing is very effective, but like most things in business, it has its advantages and disadvantages. Lets take a look at some of them. Pros • Traditional marketing has the real time effect. By this I mean, it is a form of marketing that the consumers can feel and touch. It communicates with the world in a real sense and is in no way virtual. This is an advantage because a lot of consumers (particularly older demographics) do not like forms of advertising that they cannot feel. For some reason they feel it lacks the element of truth. So if your company is trying to market a product that relates with an older crowd, it may be more effective for you to make use of this form of marketing. • Traditional marketing may also involve salesmen meeting clients face to face. Thanks to technology and social media, businesses can reach out to millions of clients without even leaving the comfort of their house. Digital marketing is a form of advertising through the use of digital or modern technology. This include the Internet, mobile phones, display ads etc. This form of marketing also has its own set of pros and cons.

Pros
• With digital marketing, you have an incredibly high rate of conversion, and you can also track these conversion ratios. Since social media marketing strategies can easily be tweaked, you have the opportunity to try out as many forms of marketing as you like.
• If used properly, digital marketing can be incredibly effective and your business may not spend so much. Since digital marketing helps to build a community-like followership, your audience will only increase.

Cons
• Digital marketing only works on a specific kind of consumer. If your target audience does not frequently use the Internet, this form of marketing will not be
