Esports is a sport! The viewership’s, prize money and mental stress that Esports athletes have to go through are comparable to that of a regular sport athlete. It is not shocking that Esports athletes are very determined and focused people, given that there is so much on the line. Esports has pretty much turned into a full on sport with the addition of Esports commentators Not only that they are also treated similarly to that of a regular sports athlete, given a coaching staff and many other luxurious treatments. Imagine watching thousands of fans wait outside the packed stadium waiting to catch a glimpse of their heroes. Inside a shiny polished trophy awaits, the players arrive eyeing it carefully as they make their way to their positions. …show more content…
Esports can be defined as competitive gaming, most common types of Esports are FPS (first person shooter) based games or MOBA’s (multiplayers online battle arena). However all of these games have the same purpose and that is games where “athletes” play as a virtual character in a virtual world and attempt to fight their way to victory.

When I looked at the many definitions of a sport, Like Poker and Chess, Esports are mind-based sports with limited physical activity. Some of the definitions that I found use words “usually” and “or” when talking about the physical activity involved, which makes the case that not all sports don’t always need to be a physical activity. Here are some definitions that I found from the Cambridge dictionary and Merriam Webster dictionary. “A game, or competition, or similar activity, done for enjoyment or as a job that takes physical effort and skill and is played or done by the following particular rules” . Or “A contest or game in which people do certain physical activities according to a specific set of rules and compete against each

Many of these Esports are played individually or in a team. Serious Esports athletes train for months on end, displaying strong mental focus, quick reaction time and extreme dedication as they
