This research program will be successful. This group of research scientists is hardworking, and sophisticated. They appreciate and respect for all living species such as primates and domestic animals. All animals including primates have the capability to understand the spoken English language. For example Washoe, a female chimpanzee, has been taught ASL from age of one. Dr Allen Gardner and his wife have taught Washoe like a deaf child and an active environment filled with toys and human companions that she communicates with using ASL. She is able to communicate not just with humans but also with other chimpanzees, and amongst themselves about video game and housecleaning. “Researchers are also excited by the chimpanzees use of ASL among themselves. Washoe, her adoptive son Loulis, and other family members have been videotaped having ASL conversations on their own about games, food, and ‘housecleaning”, according to the article “Going Ape over Language”. There are so many ways these animals can benefit themselves, caregivers, and humans. For example a domestic animal can express if something is wrong if they know Animal Sign Language. In the article, “Dogs Can Sign Too”, Chal, a canine was able to communicate her pain to her caregiver, Sean. Sean signed, “Where’s Your Ouch” and Chal was able to respond by signing “Here”. She was able to point at her chest area where her pain was coming from. According to the article it states, “Chal has demonstrated that dogs can not only tell you where they hurt, but also can detect and communicate the location of their own tumor spot. They have done this for humans, now we know they can do this for themselves, too.” This will be particularly beneficial to the canines and other animals. It will not only benefit the animals but it will also help caregivers to give proper treatment for their pets and save their
