8). Deception is possibly the worst trait one would want in a police officer. That police officer is supposed to be telling the truth in all things that he or she might do. When the police officer does not tell the truth it could cause that police officer long term consequences or even the department if they do not do anything about the deception. No one wants an officer that is going to be deceiving anyone that he or she comes into contact with. The trying to change or bend the rules on how a police officer can perform out a search is very problematic and one can see this in the Mapp v. Ohio case. According to the Mapp v. “Once ethical risk areas have been identified, preventive counter-measures need to be put in place” (Miller, 2010). This could be one of the biggest problems though in misconduct. The reason behind that is because the agency has police officers that are working for them that think it is alright to do anything even if it is illegal to get the best outcome.
