“As the thousands people began to gather they began to notice they were surrounded by police officers, military soldiers and sharpshooters. A total of about 10,000 people were gathered at the Plaza de la Tres Culturas and the Chihuahua building located adjacent to the plaza” ( Aguayo 12) . The rally was supposed to be a peaceful one. “ Young men and women students walked around handing out flyers, went around collecting money in cans with the letter “CNH”, and they were also selling newspapers and poster boards” (Poniatowska ).The students and general public were there to hear members of the “ Consejo National de Huelga” (CNH) which stands for the “ National Strike Committee”. These members were there to lead the massive groups in chants and to give speeches in regards to how they should be behaving. They should continue to be united to fight against the Mexican government in a now violent manner. “Members of the CNH were located on the Chihuahua building and were standing on the 3rd floor’s balcony. The fact that drug cartels pay off policemen and they also put out bounties for people, has made difficult and intimidating for a journalist or report to go out and do their jobs. In a similar scenario where multitudes of people get together ,it will be a lot easier to record anything that happens due to the fact that almost everyone has a cell phone. Having a cell phone will allow everyone to be a journalist because they will be able to record any event and upload it to the Internet. In relation to students being able to speak out the situations remains the same. They were never denied the ability to protest as they were protesting several months before this great massacre. The only way that students can protest and be out spoken about a situation is by having evidence and making it known at an international level.
