Though only making up a fourth of the Italian geography, the plains of Italy still play a crucial role in Italy’s environment. Perhaps the most well known of the Italian plains is the Padan Plain. Located in between the Alps and the Appenines, this plain fills with melted snow quite rapidly, only to feed and be drained by the Po River (“Understanding Italy”). Other than the famous Padan Plain, Italy is home to other noteworthy plains such as the Maremme, the Pontine Marshes, the Campania Plain and the Apulian Plain. Moreover, the Plain of Catania on the island of Sicily is famous for its production of citrus fruits (“Understanding Italy”).
Along with its plains, Italy’s lakes and bodies of water add to its gorgeous terrain.With over 1,500 lakes throughout the country, much of Italian's terrain revolves around the lake environment. Many of these lakes are minor

Origin of Ancient Rome and the Renaissance, Italian culture has been developed for centuries. Art, family, architecture, music and food have flourished over the years to surmount to how they are viewed today (Zimmermann). Much of Italy’s culture has reached out to other nations, resulting in different nationalities within. Even though roughly 96 percent of the Italian population is in fact Italian heritage, many other nationalities have influenced Italy’s society. Countries such as France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia have played this role from the north, while islands such as Sicily and Sardinia have from the south (Zimmermann). Though over 9/10 of Italy’s populations speaks the native language, Italian, there are numerous other languages spoken as well. These languages include Sardinian, Friulian, Neapolitan, Sicilian, Ligurian, Piedmontese, Venetian, and Calabrian (Zimmermann).Despite possible differences, nearly all Italians share the same or similar
