Sometimes therapies are also used after people have strokes. This helps them relearn how to use their facial expressions and some of their body movements. In some instances doctors try to use therapies to fix a problem without having to do surgery. In some cases it has actually been proved that these therapies are more effective than going under the knife. Jason Bellamy did a study on meniscal tears and arthritis in the knee and their findings showed that the people who were randomly assigned physical therapy were showing the same improvements as the people who participated in the surgery. Over half of the patients that were assigned to physical therapy did not end up opting for the surgery. In some cases there are ways that this physical therapy is better than surgery. There are some people who just do not want to do the work in those cases surgery would be a better option for them. They are times where people are too busy to stop and do all of these workouts, or enough time to visit the physical therapist more than once a week. These people have to be majorly committed to do these workouts at home to keep up with their regimen. People frequently use physical therapy in many ways, and it allows them to try to fix the problem without surgery. I've also been many studies on physical therapy and surgery in the benefits of either. For minimal things sometimes people can try physical therapy and if that doesn't work out they can turn to surgery afterwards. There have also been many studies on doing surgery instead of physical therapy is much more beneficial than just trying physical therapy.
