All the photo shopped women who have been edited to look flawless are causing women to look at themselves negatively. When young, insecure girls view these pictures, they believe they can achieve the same flawless image, and they exert their selves to fulfil this desire. Meanwhile, a majority of girls do not realize this is absurd to have the immaculate image without the help of photo shop and a professional photoshopper who knows how to use it to its full expediency. Only if they were aware that the bodies they see on social media, billboards, and magazines are not outright natural they would be more confident with the body shape they possess. A mass majority of young girls admire the picture of the models body, with no insight that the picture has been photoshopped. When females begin to realize they are not capable to achieve the look portrayed in the photos, they become insecure and feel as if something is wrong with the way their body is. Obviously photo shop is not the only cause of eating disorders in women, but it is a major contribution to the issue. Often, an image is passed off as a model showing off her “natural” beauty, but, later on, an article will be released which will reveal the actual picture before it has been photo shopped. Many women, and even young girls, are afraid to leave the house without makeup on, due to society’s perversion of natural beauty. There are many celebrities today who have truly inspired everyone with their promotion of true natural beauty. Jennifer Lawrence, in particular, is a true role model for the way she handles herself when it comes to her weight and appearance. According to the Huffington Post, Lawrence said, “I’m never going to starve myself for a part… I don’t want little girls to be like, ‘Oh, I want to look like Katniss, so I’m going to skip dinner’". In addition, Alicia Keys is another celebrity that has took the charge to share to with woman the importance of their natural beauty. Seeing a celebrity not wearing makeup helps the community of females to know that it’s ok to share their natural beauty. Once female celebrities begin to show their natural beauty, therefore more females will begin to do the same. Doing so will increase the confidence level that females have in their bodies. If only more celebrities could be as inspirational as Alicia Keys and Jennifer Lawrence.
