Sensitivity helps the company grow and learn from the decisions it makes. Self-awareness eventually leads to an understanding of others and this awareness of others broadens into an understanding of the subtlety of change. Building “personal mastery” will allow Google’s employees to recognize upcoming events that could be influenced by change. These events could then be identified and examined in the future, allowing Google to adapt more quickly. Next, Senge’s discipline of “team learning,” which enables teams to reflect on their experiences and develop skills that allow them to gain insight will permit Google to learn from past experiences. “Team learning” will enhance the understanding of the changing environment, aid in assessing events that cause change, and develop adaptation to change by allowing employees to reflect on what happened and why it may have happened (as cited in Smith, …show more content…
This understanding would help Google learn to adapt to changes by creating an awareness of the complexities of interwoven interactions. By using Peter Senge’s five disciplines, Google and its employees could learn to embrace continuous learning, and this would help them prepare for the changing environment, develop the ability to assess influences of change, and hone the capability to adapt to those changes.
