In Addition, I will be observing Melissa to see if she will comment on the story instead of waiting for me to ask what the story is about because “ it is important to note that when children understand what they are reading, they often comment on the story as they go. Many times they don’t wait to be asked what the story is about, but may react to the story as they read.” (Taberski H. 2000) Melissa mom drop her off at New York public library. The fiction book Melissa had chosen was Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons by Eric Litwin. Nevertheless, Melissa is familiar with “Pete the Cat” she has prior knowledge. In Addition, Melissa like Pete the Cat books which was her reason for choosing the book. Melissa was so thrilled with our selection which prompted her to start sing “I love my white shoe.” I Love My White Shoe, is a book about Pete the Cat “walking down the street wearing his brand new white shoes. Along the way, his shoes change from white to red to blue to brown as he steps in piles of strawberries, blueberries, and other big messes!
