It is estimated that around 10,000-15,000 people are entered into human trafficking into the United States, each year, many used as forced laborers. These forced laborers often sign an agreement that indentures them for a certain amount of work for very low wages. In many cases, the laborers have little knowledge of their legal rights and often may not speak the local language. It’s our job to put a stop to it. Traffickers lure people into forced labor and sex trafficking by manipulating and exploiting their vulnerabilities. Most of victims are recruited and convinced to seek employment, usually in a foreign country. Many Traffickers use different tactics such as advertising in newspapers the need for work abroad. They take them to an established travel agency, and further their passport and visas are taken from them. Traffickers use violence and fear most victims aren't aware of their rights. Scarring of them of being sent back to their home country keeps them doing whatever the Traffickers want.
There are a lot factors to why Human Trafficking is so prevalent. Many times there isn’t much work in a specific place and people are desperate. Things like civil warfare and crime leave many vulnerable victims. Places like Mexico or Guatemala are experiencing political instability, which leads to chaos, which leads to job shortage and poverty, things that make people desperate to support themselves and their family. We can see this is something traffickers definitely take advantage
