According to Merriam-Webster.com, homework is defined as “an assignment given to a student to be completed outside the regular class period.” If students were not given homework, Stein’s mood would improve, students would have a better life outside of school, and other people in the students’ lives would benefit as well. Students in the Honors English 10 class should not be given any homework. Most importantly, if students were not given homework in Honors English 10, Stein’s mood would improve. First of all, Stein would have much more time to spend with her beloved family. Stein’s husband would be much happier if her students did not have any homework because she would be in a far better mood. Although Stein already spends time with her family, she would be in a much better mood, and this would make the time that was spent with her husband and other family members more worthwhile, and she would have much more time to do numerous activities with her family. In addition, Stein would not have to grade nearly as much. Stein would not have to be angry and spend hours upon hours on grading various assignments, wasting time that could be directed to other activities. Although some people may say that nothing would be in the gradebook without homework assignments, this would actually be beneficial because other assignments such as tests and in-class activities would still be in the gradebook, and Stein wouldn’t have to throw away hours of her time grading. Moreover, if Honors 10 students didn’t have any homework, Stein could spend more time with her cat Honza. Spending time with animals is proven to improve a person’s mood and is a great way to spend free time. Additionally, not having homework in Honors 10 would decrease Stein’s stress level and improve her mood. If homework wasn’t given, then Stein’s stress levels would decrease dramatically because she wouldn’t have to spend hours planning, let alone grading, hundreds of assignments. Also, if Honors 10 didn’t have homework, then students would be able to spend more time with their families. Without homework, students would be in a better mood, be able to do more chores around the house, and have more time to form bonds with their parents that would last a lifetime. In addition, students would have more time to study for tests. The students would have an increased amount of time for studying and this would lead to higher test scores. Moreover, students would have more time to participate in activities. Students could volunteer, participate in a sport like tennis or volleyball, and/or join a school club like Student Council. Although students may already partake in activities, they would have an increased amount of time that would allow them to become more involved in activities of their choosing.
