The idea “everyone gets prizes” in children sports, detracts from the purpose of sports. Many people believe children’s sports shouldn’t pass out medals for only participating within the sport, but they should be rewarded for their efforts and have one trophy that the champions of the league should receive. First off, participation medals eliminate the spirit of competition, secondly it takes away the purpose of playing a sport and it builds children to grow up without different teachings, competitive sports implement into your life. Within the sport’s world, the main purpose as you grow older becomes competition and winning. The spirit of competition comes with every aspect of life. Whether that competition between athletes or businesses, you are always competing for a spot as the top person in your field of work. Everyone wants to be at the top as either a champion, captain of a sports team or a CEO of a company. These virtues are often embedded in the traditions of a particular sport which encourages their formation and display by those who play.” Along with these virtues, sports also teach you courage, prosperity and pride. In sports, especially contact sports, it’s a mental battle as well as a physical one. You need to be courageous enough to take a hit as well as give a hit. You get a taste of victory and the self-accomplishment of being called a winner. The moral of pride teaches you to be proud of yourself, who you are and where you came
