If you're determined to eat between-meal and midnight summer snacks, it's much more healthy if they're diet-friendly. It may not be easy for some people with lifetime preferences for the wrong food. They're used to noshing on salty and/or greasy potato chips, pretzels, French fries, pork rinds, bacon bits, cheese cake and the many other foods that delight the palette. Of course, at the same time they enlarge the belly. Those goodies are very tempting in summertime, especially after a round of golf, a run in the park or a pick-up game of softball. Hunger pangs rule, and if those unhealthy foods are handy, the tired and sweaty athletes will consume them. Raising healthy kids is more important now than ever before. According to the CDC, the child obesity rate for children between the ages 6 and 19 has TRIPLED since 1980. The child obesity rate is currently 16%. This is a scary situation, not only for our children but also for our country. Unhealthy children will turn in to unhealthy adults. Unhealthy adults suffer from various ailments that have links to obesity such as Type II diabetes and heart disease. Raising healthy kids is not as difficult as you think. Here's how parents can make sure that they instill healthy living habits in their child. Raising Healthy Kids Tip #1 The first tip to raising healthy kids is not to go overboard. While it's important to instill healthy eating and exercise habits, there is such a thing as going overboard. Make sure that when raising healthy children you make sure to teach them moderation. For example, don't ever mention that you don't want them to eat something because they could get fat. Likewise, don't tell them that they need to exercise to avoid getting fat.
