As new technology is developed, cloning becomes a higher discussed topic. Cloning is the process of producing similar populations of genetically identical individuals. Cloning has been seen a as a recent discovery but cloning has been happening in nature since the beginning of time. Common animals that clone naturally are starfish, bacteria, and even some plants. But cloning becomes a controversial topic when humans artificially make clones of animals that normally reproduce sexually like sheep, goats, cows, and cattle.
Cloning won't be able to solve the problem of extinction, but it can definitely be used to speak out about the problem. 40% of the world’s species are at risk to be extinct. 2000s, using the same technique that produced Dolly, researchers have cloned several endangered and even extinct mammals. mouflon sheep, deer, bison, and coyotes have been cloned. As cloning is now a …show more content…

Many believe that cloned animal meat is bad to ingest but in 2008 final risk assessment of FDA it was approved. no additional risks to people eating clones or the offspring of any animal clones traditionally consumed as food. “We could add more animal protein into the food chain, eliminating some of the pressure that will undoubtedly be placed on croplands in future generations”(FDA’s view in light of the conclusions and recommendations outlined in the Animal Cloning Risk Assessment, Risk Management Plan, and Guidance for Industry #179).
As with most things cloning comes with its cons. The main problem from my position is animal cruelty. “large offspring syndrome,” or LOS, fetuses grew too large during pregnancy. Which can lead to a painful and unhealthy birth. “cloning poses no unique risks to animal health, compared to the risks found with other reproduction methods, including natural
