Babies arrive “home” in a number of different ways. Some are born at home and others on the operating table. Some are born to one mother only to eventually find their way to another. Home and family aren’t that different no matter where you are, even if you’re in Hollywood. In fact, adoption seems to be more common amongst celebrities than ever before in recent years. Or it could be that adoption awareness has increased and everyone is simply talking about it more. Regardless, for those adoptive parents out there who sometimes feel alone with their challenges, consider these very well known examples of how not alone you actually are.

Celebrity Moms Who Adopted a Child:

• Viola Davis and Julius Tennon adopted their first child, Genesis, in October 2011.
• Sheryl Crow adopted two sons: Wyatt and Levi. She has been known to speak to the press about the waiting associated with Levi’s adoption as various delays caused it to take over a year.

• Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness adopted Oscar and Ava and have been known to openly discuss their purposeful adoption of mixed race babies as they have a harder time getting adopted. They feel that adoption is about taking a baby into your home and into your heart and see it as the best thing they have ever done.
• Edie Falco didn’t see having biological children as important, but wanted to raise a child. This led her to adopt her two children, Anderson and Macy.
• Mary-Louise Parker adopted Caroline “Ash” Aberash three years after the birth of her son, Will. She describes adoption as a beautiful thing.
