If the choice is yours, would you make it? Ana was a senior in high school living in Argentina at the time. Her boyfriend, being homeless, left her to go live in California leaving her alone and pregnant. She didn’t know what to do. On her way home all that was on her mind was abortion. A place where she would try to be persuaded to keep the child, but she could never keep it. She went to her concealer at school to sign up for planned pregnancy. In Argentina at the time abortions were illegal. So Ana and her doctor drove around looking for someone to do it for her. But was she really up to doing this? (“Winter”). Rape and sexual assault are the biggest issues that lead women to abortion. But because a women is hurt in a sexual way doesn’t not mean it has to be taken out on an innocent child that has no knowledge of what is going on. “Animal abuse, suicide and even cutting down trees are frequently illegal basis that these things have some value and should not be destroyed…If the destruction of any species with a significant value is illegal what makes abortion any different.” (“Should abortions of”). Understanding that a women was put in a dangerous situation does change a lot of perspectives on the women view of the decision but that does not change the fact that it’s wrong. Of course the mother should have her rights but take the baby into account as well. Other situations that may lead to a women wanting to get abortions is an unfitted home for the child. Just because the family cannot provide for the child doesn’t mean another families can’t either. There are family who are willing and ready to take care of the child. Just because the situation a family or a mother is in should not change or effect the life of the child. Rape and sexual assault are major issues but a child’s life should not be questioned because of it.
