When researchers remove the stem cells from the embryos, which is usually 4-5 days into the blastocyst phase, the embryos usually consist of 50-150 stem cells. I’m sorry to say this but embryos are indeed alive. For example, starfish have no brain,heart, or way to breathe (gills,lungs,etc…), yet they are living creatures.
