(5:04 am)And the morning starts, and I'm on my way to LA! I feel like I haven't seen my family in forever. I'm sure it's impossible for them to miss me like I miss them. It's just been so long..and I've been waiting for this day since I left. I have to get up early tomorrow morning just to catch the flight, 5am?! Can you believe that?

(6:49 am)Here at the airport, ready to go now. This business trip took long than expected and I miss my family oh so much. Once I get there, they'll meet me in the airport, we'll run and hug and kiss like we haven't seen each other in an eternity. Hopefully we'll get lunch after because I am just starved but too excited and busy to find the time to eat!

(7:50 am)Finally I'm on the plane. I've never really liked flying but I find no use taking a stinky Greyhound or train. Plus, they paid to fly me back home so why not?

I woke up late and rushed to pack my suitcase, grab some cash, and make it to the airport in time for my flight to Montreal. My Uber driver was on point, getting me to FLL with time to spare. I breezed through security, grabbed some coffee, and jumped on the plane like a boss. Three and a half hours later, my flight landed safely at YUL. As I was going through customs I noticed that the officers were being especially invasive.…

Another hot summer in Idaho at another family reunion. I chased after my dad and brother’s cloud of dust; reving my ATV’s (all terrain vehicle) engine I whipped around the land my great great uncle homesteaded on. My confidence grew as did my speed until my wheel caught and spun me right into a log that pierced through the fender and into my leg. It was the first time I ever blacked out. When I came too a few seconds later I was alone; high on the trails of the Sawtooth mountains, blood gushing from my shin.…

Jackie Robinson once said “I’m not concerned with your liking or disliking me… all I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” This was my motto as i moved to the USA from Egypt at the age of six years old. Although i was not as old as i am now it was still tough. Thanks to determination and persistence i was able to not only make it in school but understand the language and speak it. It had been a year after my brother was born, i had made a lot of friends in kindergarten, had my dad’s side of the family here, i had finally learned to read and write a little bit of Arabic, and was about to go to first grade.…
