Personal Narrative: What Happened When I Came Back To School

What Happened When I Came Back To School? How would you feel about going back to high school if you decided not to go to school for one year? This was me back in my sophomore year of high school. After one year of not going to school I decided to go to Haysville High School to finish out my high school career. I only expected to barely get by in school but there are four things that this school has made me aware of or taught me. The first thing being that it taught me that I can do all the work given to me exceptionally well. The school taught me how to not be lazy and how to organize my work load so that I can complete work and turn it in on time. In my past years of schooling I had been known to not complete all the work assigned to me, but this school provided help whenever I needed it so I have been able to finish all homework in all of my classes. The school motivated me to do all my work because I would could get out of school early on Fridays if I turned in all work. The school taught me that all the work I do is at least somewhat valuable because it puts me closer to my goal of graduating. This is a valuable skill for life that was shown to me by the school. Next, this school taught me the value of being at school every day. …show more content…
I show up to class as much as I can to know what I need to know about a topic and to complete work assigned. In the past I have missed more than a reasonable amout of days and even decided not to go to school for an entire year. This place has shown me that being at school will make it easier and less of a hassle if I just be here. I can only miss four days without a doctor’s note so that is an incentive to come to school when I can. Most employers have said that the most trouble they are having with people is them showing up and manners so attendance is a wonderful skill to have as person. Another thing this school has shown me how to be professional and professional habits. I could always fake being professional in the past when I needed to, such as when talking in front of a group of people or to teacher whose classes I did horribly in to attempt to get a higher grade. The habits I have been shown have showed me that I can also be well prepared and know what I need to, such as how to write an impressive resume. Now I can truly act like an adult and impress people of any type because of the things I was taught by the staff here. I am now ready to go out into the professional world and seek a well-paying job. The last thing that this school has made me aware about myself is that I do have potential. Last year I was only worried about graduating, but instead I went on to exceed my expectations about how well I would do coming back from the schooling absence and I ended up winning student of the year and making almost all A’s. This is the best school I have went to by far because of the amazing teachers here and the help they have offered me. Past schools had offered me help but I was embarrassed to accept it and that really hurt me in the long run because there is nothing to be embarrassed about. They have

A dilemma that I faced, and still am facing is simply the decision about what I want to do with my life after my high school career. In my freshman year of high school my goal was simply to get through the year in one piece. I was forced to conform to my new environment and all the strict rules that came along with it. Along with that it was the sudden transition from being the "big dogs" as eighth graders at my middle school to being "fresh-meat" in my first year high school. With so much attention placed on me as a freshman like on the varsity basketball team, where I was constantly forced to prove my worth to the coach and the players, to stepping out of my comfort zone and performing in a mandatory play for the rest of the the school as…

My decision to return to college was purely random. There was no pondering over the decision; no weighing in the pros and cons, no thinking it through or any real thought behind it. I literally woke up one morning and said to myself “I think I’ll go back to college” and I made the call. I called the College of New Rochelle and made the appointment for the admissions test. And before I knew what was actually happening, I was a matriculated college student.…

I dealt with life in school and outside of it as well, it can get extremely hectic when you have loads of homework to complete and attain a job afterschool. Graduating from high school gave me the confidence to handle any obstacle I have to face in life and conquer it.
