I was so nervous and it was only the second time that I competed that whole year. I truly wanted a better score than what I got in the past competition. We started on beam, it's not my favorite, because I could have broken my leg again if I slipped off. I did my routine like what I did during my regular practice. Thankfully, I didn’t fall off or slipped. Then the next event was floor, one of my favorites, I used to dance ballet, so floor is effortless for me to memorize. Next was vault, my all time favorite, I love running and doing multiple tricks on it. Last, was bars, my least favorite, I never really liked bars because it requires upper body strength and that’s not my strongest. Overall, I think I did pretty good.
Now that all the teams all finished, it's time for awards. My results were 2nd for beam, 1st for floor, 1st for vault and 3rd for bars. For floor and vault, I got the score of 9.700, which is my highest score. For beam, I got 9.625 and 9.5 on bars. Before they announced the all-around, I whispered to my best friend that I was gonna get 3rd place in the all-around, but I got a sweet surprise when they announced it. The woman announcing said “the young lady that received a 38.525 is, Mellinda Ismael.” I was definitely, not expecting to first in the state
