Growing up in a single-parent household I knew it that it would not be easy to get into my dream school without having the required ACT score or high GPA. When I first took the ACT I received a 15 as my composite score, which I knew would not get me into my dream school. As I mentioned, I strived and was determined to get my ACT score to a high enough score where I could attend a decent school. After taking this standardized test six times, my score went from a 15 to a 20. But not only was my ACT score low, my GPA was not good enough either. Luckily, within a three your time period, I was able to increase my GPA from a 2.1 to a 3.0. I then qualified for in-state financial assistance which could lessen the burden I would have to put on my mother. I still needed to come up with thousands of more dollars to get my foot in the door at a university. I am now left with the choice of taking out a student
