Personal Narrative: The Mission Inn

There are a countless number of beautiful places dispersed across the Earth over a span of seven continents. Every location has its own distinct characteristics that draw the attention of many individuals and tourists. Some places are scenic, lush, and remote in beauty while other places are famous for their architectural marvels. In addition, every individual has his or her own unique palate and liking towards his or her interests. Not only do people enjoy a destination’s scenic beauty or architectural marvels, but also out of historical and religious fascination. I have visited many places of historical and tourist; however, my recent visit to The Mission Inn in Riverside, California left

While the visitors of the Inn are enjoying the modern amenities, such as the outdoors Olympic sized pools and first-class fitness center, there are passageways that run underneath the hotel that head in the direction of Mount Rubidoux. These pathways are now closed. These catacombs were rumored to have existed and were a great conversation topic of different sorts. Like most rumors of this nature, no one had ever been in them nor did anyone know anyone who had been in them. It was not until the late nineties that the tales of the haunted catacombs of The Mission Inn were finally put to rest. When a constructive worker dug into one of the catacombs; he felt the spirits. One current employee of The Mission Inn remembers, and older gentlemen was once assigned a room in one in the upper stories of the building because there were no lower floor rooms available due to the 1939 remodeling. The next morning, when the gentlemen was asked if his accommodations were adequate, he was reported to have said to this worker that all was fine, and he even enjoyed the singing from in the room next door. It is a way to give back to the community. It has become a Southern California tradition, where the celebration brings the community closer together every year. It offers activities for families, clubs, and organizations to enjoy together free of charge. One can enjoy the Festival of lights without going to big amusement parks. It is entertainment with no monetary expenses. It can be enjoyed by everyone of any socio-economic status. The Festival of Lights continues to grow every year with more lights, more animated figures, and more holiday cheer. It is a tradition of joy, happiness, and community during the winter holidays in Riverside. This is an attraction one must visit when they are visiting Riverside during the
