Three years later, I was introduced to the “Force” and launched into a Galactic civil war on the silver screen. Star Wars was the beginning of a series of multiple movies, which continues to be very popular with audiences today. In fact the latest installment “The Last Jedi” is being released on Dec 15. In retrospect, I have never not known a time in my life where Star Wars hasn’t existed for me. Star Wars, released in 1977, was a low-budget science fiction film that was sort of a pet project from its creator, George Lucas. Unbeknownst to Lucas, the film became a commercial success and a cultural phenomenon. Having been born in 1997, I wasn’t alive at the time where Star Wars had been released. I had never experienced first-hand the infamous twist that Darth Vader was actually Luke Skywalker’s, the protagonist of the original Star Wars trilogy, father in cinemas at the time of Empire Strikes Back’s release.…

There are many genetic traits out there in the world, but if I could only have one that I could pass down to future generations, it would be The Force from Star Wars. I would want to have The Force because I would be able to read and control everyone's mind, and I would be able to move objects, no matter how big or small. I could, dare I say it, rule the world. I would be able to save people with the Force and help prevent future attacks from occuring. I could also help the government by getting involved with the CIA, and by using my special abilities, I could search for terrorists and fugitives that have escaped.…

At a younger age, I would say I believed that I can only trust myself and my mother, this is because as a little kid my mom would always tell me that there are bad people in the world and that giving them any information about anything can be very harmful. But as I grew up and realized what was actually happening in my country I knew there were millions of others that were suffering against the “bad people” and we could only do something about it if the whole community came together to help. It was at that time when I was about 25, when I started to put some effort into trying to establish more just conditions within my country especially after the implication of extremely high food prices. This is when I started my first strike involving my…

Remember when the first Star Wars came out in the late seventies? Everyone was so excited to watch it and it was a huge success too. It is shocking to see how far Hollywood has come! From low-end cameras, unreal special effects, and battles kids today would call dull; they went to high quality video production, realistic effects, epic fight scenes and more dynamic actors. Star Wars:…

Rationale With all the hype that the new Star Wars movie The Force Awakens received my curiosity was peeked as to what exactly is Star Wars? Being a first generation American girl, no one in my family knew what the franchise was which prompted me to find out for myself. Binge-watching all six films worth thirteen hours of film on a Sunday night before school may not have been the best idea, however this necessary sacrifice introduced me to one of the most amazing Hollywood universes of all time. Indeed, the films are filled with such interesting inventions and machines, my favorite of which is remarkably not the lightsaber, but the Death Star.…

I swung my white lightsaber again and again, harder and harder, faster and faster. The battle simulator droids responded by pushing my limits further with more aggressive movements. I screamed in frustration and sliced off their heads, frying their circuits beyond repair. I frowned as I looked what I had accomplished. Three droids destroyed in one stroke.…

My native language was English, but I also learned to speak Cantonese around the same time I learned to speak English.…
