Last year, my friends and I reenacted the “Hunger Games”. For anyone who doesn’t know, the “Hunger Games” is a book/movie series that takes place in a parallel society that is separated into thirteen districts. Each year, two children between the ages of twelve and eighteen are chosen from each district to participate in the annual Hunger Games were they fight to the death in an out-door arena that is controlled by the government. The last one left is declared the victor.
When my friends and I reenacted the Hunger Games we were only allowed to bring minimal tools (knife, lighter, foam weapon, small backpack, ect.) and then we ran around in the woods “killing” each other with foam weapons and looking for non-perishable food items. Typically, we did this for up to three days or until there was a victor. Two years ago, I came in fourth place. This year, I improved and got second place.
During the Hunger Games, I found out that the tools I brought with me became very important in helping me stay in the games for as long as I did. My knife was a very important tool.

Knives are very versatile tools. They can be used for hunting, protection, cutting wood, and building shelter. While I was in the Hunger Games, building a shelter is one of the most important things that a knife can allow you to do. Being exposed to the elements is dangerous in a survival situation. Heat and cold will make your chances of survival dwindle, so it would important for me to have a knife at my disposal to build a shelter with. When building a shelter, closing off the sides and back will protect you from winds, rain, provide shade during the day, and trap heat in when it gets cold. Having a proper shelter would help me survive until help arrived. I could build also big my shelter big, so it would be like I was staying in my own private

Like many people today, watching others fight is a common thing that people take part in. We see that the sponsors, civilians, and government officials bet on who they believe is going to win. This was recently seen in our society with the UFC fight with Ronda Rousey.…
