Personal Narrative: The Abuse Of Children In Elementary School

Decent Essays
I’ve been bullied my whole life. I come from divorced parents and a split family. Children in elementary school should be making friends and having the time of their lives. For me, it was the exact opposite. Elementary school was the worst for my family and for me personally. I never made friends and never had a stable relationship outside of the school counselor I had to see every day. The people who I considered my friends would make sure not to be with me or even invite me to their birthday parties. At 9 years old, that was the worst thing that could happen. When I got to middle school and high school, I was bullied for the lack of money my family had to buy the “it” clothes or the way I looked. There was not a day in my schooling where someone didn’t say something negative to me. This made me out to be the one that everyone took advantage of. …show more content…
If there is anyone in the corner of a room or upset, I make sure to see to them. I don’t want anyone to feel the way I have felt every school year up until college. I have a soft spot in my heart for anyone that is getting bullied. I have learned to be a great listener and will spend as long as I can helping the person and making sure they are okay. I have also learned that no matter the circumstances, I will not be a bystander. I will not stand and watch someone get hurt. By standing up to anyone’s bully, it helps me stand up to my old bullies. I feel as though I can help and save someone else as well as myself at the same time. There is never an instance where I will not help someone. No matter if it was a young girl or my old high school bully, I will be there to help as much as I

“Who would Peter Be today ?”. by Estrada , Pg.69 Base on my own experience, I believe one of the reasons why many children accept other children being bullied , and they rarely step in to help the bullied children is the feeling of being isolated and bullied back from the other kids . There are many examples in social life show this for us every day and even in movies . When a group of students bully a kid and one member in a group have a thought that is unfair and want to protect the bullied kid, then all the other members in the group will bully that student, who don’t want to bully the kid anymore, until he can’t take the pressure and comeback. The scare feeling for standing up and being different from the other kids make the children not only stay where who they are but also stand there and watch the kid being bullied.…

The first method Bazelon suggests to limit bullying is “the garden” metaphor. Like a garden that has to slowly grow in order to flourish, an emphasis on moral and character development should be put into the fabric of the community, replacing the hostility or aggressiveness, which is created by child academic or social competition. Another technique Bazelon discuses to diminish bullying are the bystander’s influence. She points out that both cyber and face-to-face bullying typically occur in front of an audience and on average only twenty percent of bystanders stand up to the bullies. Bazelon notes that stereotypical Hollywood-heroic actions are not needed to stand up to a bully.…

A big issue for me was the fact that, even though Julie was abused by her father, there had to be a way to play the side of Julie that it’s hurt and not angry. My first instinct was to play fear. I thought that Julie kept this fear for her father over the years. When I found out that Julie more than scare was hurt finally could have an overall vision of what my main purpose was. She is there at the hospital because she needs to face her father before he passes away, she knows that this is her last chance to close that door and start a new page, even though she will not admit it Child abuse is a big deal no matter what it is wrong and there are no excuses for this, nevertheless a big deal for me was to find the way of showing that hurt adult that Julie is.…

Incidents like this were luckily few and far between, but almost everything you deal with helps shape who you become. I also dealt with a fair amount of bullying; most children went to school together from kindergarten to whatever grade we were in at the time, so I, always being the new kid, was the outcast. I learned…

From my personal experience, when I was in elementary school I remember my teacher would let us sit on yoga ball it always helped me concentrate and it helped me when I was really active because I could not move around, it will make me fall if I move around. I like the idea of standing desks because I prefer standing a lot but when I need to I could sit down on the tool, but I could still move my legs around and be somewhat active. So if one day you're feeling antsy you can just stand. Also I think if your tired it could help you stay awake. Mark Benden also states that sitting desk can cause kids to be obese, he also says that too much sitting is bad for your health.…

For me, it was not as serious as it could have been, unlike others who have experienced more physical or harsher verbal abuse by the bully. Fortunately, I was able to conquer my fears of going out and became more outgoing and did not let anything hold me back, whether I was playing sports or at work or just out with friends. Life is too short to be in constant fear or worry. When I got to high school I thought things were going to get worse, but because I was able to overcome, I achieved many of the goals that I strove to reach for like: getting high-honors all four years, winning two-state titles as a three-year starter in baseball, and making memories with friends that accepted me for who I am. In the end I do not regret anything and I believe that with the right support from family and friends anyone can learn to ignore the hate and strive to achieve anything they set their mind…

They could be pressured into participating in the bullying, worry about talking to someone about it, feel powerless, become victimized, or feel guilty for not helping (Education Development Center, 2008). These are reasons, other than the fact that they are helping someone, are why bystanders should always do whatever they can to stop bullying. Page 46: Adult: “Here is how to be a helpful bystander” Children can be prepared to be helpful bystanders. Adults can help by telling kids some safe ways to become a helpful bystander and assuring them that they will be supported. They can also tell the children how important it is to be a helpful bystander (Education Development Center, 2008).…

When I got on the SEPTA 66 bus from Frankford Transportation Center, it was just another plain day for me. I spent a hearty amount of my day enjoying my biology class and falling asleep in my computer class. When I would get home, I’d either take a nap or try to do some homework for my online courses. I stepped on the bus, swiped my transpass, and sat at my usual spot on the bus; the three seater facing the backdoor. I see that across from me, there was a girl in a maroon catholic high school uniform on her phone.…
