The career I am interested in is Early Learning and Development. I want to be a preschool teacher working in head start program. I believe the interaction between children and caregiver has significant influences on children development. Head start can provide me opportunities to interact with children in a most direct way. Except children’s caregiver at home, they spend most of their time with teacher in school.…
Adam is our first-born child and really has amazed us since day one. Even as a young baby, he was always very curious. At only six months he would love to sit and read books. He would curiously sit through several books at a time.…
Upon entering my 1st grade classroom, students are welcomed into a multicultural, yet simple world. There are a few maps on the wall and a globe in a corner, and some family photos on my desk. A few simple plants, some with colorful flowers, are placed around the classroom. The seating arrangements include circular tables, with four-to-five students at each table, for work in groups.…
Narrative- On 29Nov16 at 0804 hrs. I, Deputy Halbasch, was dispatched to 22997 Getaway Dr. for a welfare check. Debra Vorderbruggen contacted the HCSO and stated an employee of hers, named John Heerdt, had not shown up for work today & she had not heard from him. Debra stated he was strange for John to not be at work…
Babies are like bits of stardust blown from the hands of God -Barreto . One day I woke up got dressed, ate breakfast, and watched TV until it was the afternoon when my mom said, “ It’s time to go see the movie in the park.” We were excited, because we always go to the movies in the park. The movie was “Frozen”, so we were excited we set up our blanket and picnic basket. Then my sister and I went to go play in the park, until it got dark.…
It was a Saturday morning March 17, 1996 I was eight months in my mother’s tummy and my due date was in mid April. Uncle Benito had the crazy idea of going to the snow all because my mother had never seen the snow. My mother told me of a hill she sled down from, a great slope that didn’t leave her feeling to good “No me siento muy bien.” My uncle rushed her to Granada Hills Hospital on the morning of March 19, 1996; I was born seven pounds at eight minutes until eight.…
I documented the children and assessed them after I demonstrated the project first. I stood back and watched the children not talking to them and listened. They were talking among themselves and saying what they thought would happen next. Children would even say the things I did as I presented the project. After sometime I asked the children what they were doing to hear their responses.…
I spent 10 Mondays in the Child Development Center, for a total of 30 hours all together. Throughout my time in the CDC I was able to experience many different things and apply the techniques that we learned in class. I was able to use many different responsive care giving strategies to be able to bond with my focus child and make my learning experience much more meaningful. I was also able to connect with my mentor teacher and pick up many different skills to not only apply in class and on the assignments but at my job and in my future career field, as well. I found this experience to be very positive and constructive.…
Between the ages of five and eight I resided in a predominately white, suburban, affluent community in upstate New York. My early literacy skills and development were impacted in a multitude of ways due to my immersion in a traditional family, with a stay at home mother and working father who parented authoritatively. As the provider of the family with a superiority complex, my father did not always provide kind ways of speaking, and valued a close knit family, using the close proximity of the Adirondacks to strengthen literacy development and cognitive strategies through questioning, researching, and gaining first-hand experience from outdoor activities. From my early childhood experience, the socioeconomic, sociocultural, and environmental…
I went to a daycare that Donna ran in her home and observed the children playing in the playroom inside and a backyard with a sand box, swing set, and play toys. I observed 5 children. Molly, Chris, Lilly, Kevin, and Carrie. I studied them for 3 days in a week back to back.…
The reason I wrote this comic was because of my experience of working over the summer with young children. There were several events that pushed me toward having this experience. Through working with young children where I was a counselor at a summer camp I learned the how much people evolve since childhood. While watching the young children I got to see some events that paralleled many of the experiences that I had when I was a child. The first experience that I had that reminded me of my childhood was when I was at the park…
A new kid is at school today. He seems pretty nice, but he’s really quiet. He hasn’t really talked to anyone yet aside from teachers though. He looks a bit angry as well. I didn’t catch his name.…
One of the scary things about holding a six month old baby is whether the minute they are put into your arms, they will cry or be at ease. For that reason, I hesitated on whether I wanted to hold the infant. However when the baby was put into my arms, I think the baby sensed I was a little nervous. Although the infant didn’t cry, during the first minute or so, he looked uncomfortable and that may have been because I too felt uncomfortable. I then adjusted myself and I moved the baby in different positions until I think I found the right one, because once that happened the baby started tugging on my sweater, picking on my glasses and face.…
I chose to observe a young Asian girl who was about five years of age. Her birth date is on June 14, 2011. She was slightly above average height and seemed to be of average weight compared to her classmates. She had long dark brown hair that was pulled back a hot pink headband with a flower on it. She had an identical twin sister that wore the same hot pink dress with white and pink leggings and sparkly pink shoes.…
Becoming a teacher is a career path I came across while working for the Realizing Amazing Potential (R.A.P.) before and after school program. In my undergraduate program I always knew I wanted to working with children, but it was a challenge for me to choose one career path I felt my work would make a difference. The defining moment for my career was the passion I found working with special need students, and the hard work to help them succeed academically. Being part of the education growth for students with special needs helped me find the career path I fell in love with, and knew I wanted to continue to advance my education in the field. The passion of helping students with special needs is a career I love and allows me to want to continue…
