Personal Narrative: Overcoming Obstacles In My Life

As I grew older every day there would be obstacles in life, some that I would overcome and some that I would not. One major obstacle in life that was of significant impact was when the doctors discovered that my brother had schizophrenia. This illness is a life-long lasting disorder that causes the person to have breakdowns, bad thoughts, and makes them believe that they are in a fantasy or a delusion. Every time my brother would attend County College Of Morris, the school would have to call the ambulance because he would begin to talk to himself and have traumatic breakdowns.His schizophrenia onset during my freshman year and it was really difficult to continue focusing on my grades and the situation I was in.
An extremely hard episode that occurred with my brother was when I was doing my homework,he came into the room, locked me in there and started yelling at me because something was telling him I was doing something bad. I felt like going home would make it difficult for me to focus. Eventually, I decided to stay after school to finish all my homework and prevent all the terrible things from occurring at home. Later on when things had calmed down, I started to recognize my downfalls and how that would affect me and my future; I noticed my poor grades and I realized I needed to make

When the new school year came along, I continued to stay after school and even come in the morning. I had a new mindset, and that was to never give up. I knew all of the hard work that I put in now would pay off in the future. After I started to work harder in school and challenge myself, I noticed that my goals were being achieved with my dedication. I began to devote myself a lot more to my academics, and even achieved my biggest goal and that to earn honor
