Personal Narrative: My Soccer Team

I always went to them if I needed someone to talk to but some of them didn’t care about our friendships after soccer ended and there are many of us that miss playing the games and tournaments but we don’t miss all the practices because of all of the time they took up. Since we have more homework in 8th grade I’m glad that I have more time at home to do my homework and get everything done that I need on time.
The ending of my soccer team has had the biggest impact on me so far in life and I’m sure there will be bigger things but not because of something like this. I never want any of my others sports teams to end as bad as this one did and I hope that I never lose any of my friends because of a sports team. I also never expected our soccer team to end like that. Losing this team almost makes me think that nothing lasts forever because I never thought our team would split. I miss having all of the fun at hotels and the team bondings and I know I always

Even though it seems that I’m trying to laugh off the situation, I’m using humor to cope with how much this situation affected me because soccer really meant a lot to me. Playing soccer is one of the ways where I can be myself and feel truly happy and free. When I play I always know that I have a team that I can rely on to support me and they know that they can rely on me as a striker to provide hope when we’re losing and confidence when we’re winning by scoring goals. Soccer for me was a constant so having it taken away in a few seconds when it took 15 years to build the stability and skill was like a bullet to the…

I truly felt we were a small family. In our away games since we didn’t get too much of an audience to cheer us up, we acted as one. We celebrated with high fives and hugs when we scored and congratulated one another for the effort displayed on the field. Being in a sport or just enjoying a game with your peers, it could create a strong bond among one another. Sports unite people from different backgrounds.…

The next day, we had another soccer game in the morning and I wanted to play, but, a parent on our team is a nurse and she told my mom that I needed to sit out and go to the doctor Monday because she thought I had a concussion. Monday came, and I went to the doctor and they told me I had a terrible concussion and should go to the hospital to see if my skull was cracked. Needless to say, the doctors found nothing wrong but a terrible concussion, and they told me I had the choice to quit soccer or keep playing and become affected by the concussion in 10 years, so, I made the hardest decision I’ve ever made; I quit the game I fell in love with at just 5 years…

I never been held more accountable in one school year other than my senior year of high school, I was taught how to build off the good and not the bad growing up. In high school I played football, and my senior year my football team hired a new coach, Coach Robbie. Along the way, I guess my passion wasn’t seen by only me, later giving me the opportunity to become my school’s varsity team’s videographer, something I’ll never be able to fully express my gratitude for.
