Personal Narrative: My Life At Conway Christian School

Improved Essays
My life changed the year of 2013. An unforgettable experience I had was when I left the only school I´d ever been to. All of my friends were at Conway Christian School, I didn't want to leave, but my older brother did. I left when I finished fifth grade. One of my brothers stayed at CCS (Conway Christian School) and the other, with me, went to public school. Going into Carl Stuart I didn't have many friends. Carl Stuart , one big middle school, had over 800 students. Conway Christian, a much smaller school, which had a elementary, middle, and high school, had less than 800 students. Carl Stuart was a huge school compared to Conway Christian . My first day was exceedingly chaotic. Carl Stuart is a big school and you can easily get lost in. It was hard for me to find my classes. I thought I was going to have one friend who could show me around, but she moved right before school started, and it blindsided me. The learning style at Carl Stuart was definitely a lot different than Conway Christian. English and math were like a whole other ball game. At Conway Christian, English was mainly focused on more vocabulary things and Carl Stuart was more writing skills. Math was completely different, everything that the teachers had taught everyone in fifth grade, I was taught a whole other way. My first year at public school went okay, but I still missed my friends and my old life. My experience at public school started to turn around. …show more content…
They were holding tryouts for seventh grade volleyball, I had never once even touched a volleyball before. I thought that I should just try out for fun. Tryouts went great and were fun to me. The last day we got a number, a number that would decide my fate for my seventh grade year. It would be put on a list and if you were lucky enough to be on the list, you made it. The next day, a Saturday, I walked up to the school. I looked hastily for my number, number thirty-six. I scrolled my eyes down the paper, my heart racing. Finally, I spotted my number. I made it. My first practice was that summer in July. In our first drill, we had to find a partner. I didn't know anyone on the team, so I just waited until I found someone. I met someone who I would become really great friends with. She became my volleyball partner for the entire season. Practices were tough, but volleyball was what I looked forward to every single day. Coming up was steak out and I was thrilled, I loved being able to play with all of my new friends. Our last game was by far our greatest game of all. We were playing our biggest rivals, Ruth Doyle. I was so nervous as I watched the volleyball go back and forth between our teams. I heard cheering every time we made a point, and got closer to victory. My heart was pounding as our last serve went up. If we made this point, we won. The ball went up and everyone went completely silent and dead still. I watched the last play of the last game of the season. We beat our rivals. Beating Ruth Doyle was the greatest feeling anyone could have. It was like we had just won the lottery. As soon as the

At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…
