For my high school coach I interviewed Tony Stennett who works as our S.i.d along with being an Assistant coach on the Men’s basketball team. He has also worked as a freshman coach on a high school team. We talked about the difference between coaching in high school and then college, we also discussed his philosophy along with other challenges that faces coaches along with many other things that coaches have to deal with. The first topic we discussed was what he thought was his biggest challenge in coaching we said that it was getting through to all athletes because every player is different and has different Ways that they can be reached. There is also a difference between the needs of a college student and a high school student which can also be a challenge for new college coach coming from high school. Another challenge he faced was when it comes to winning and losing, the players will always get the credit for the win but when the team loses all the blame goes to the coach. He see that you always have to make time for yourself. Tony discussed how his me time is when he goes and work’s out at the gym. I agree with him that you have to always make time for yourself because you have to have to relax and take a break from everything. If you don’t do this it could cause issues in your life because you won’t be giving enough time to your private and personal life along with you could be neglecting you family and friends. When you are neglecting these things you would be causing issues with your health because it isn’t healthy if you don’t do anything social or have no me time for a extended period of time. All the stress is not healthy that is one of the main reason to have me time so you have a break from

I have played baseball ever since I was a young kid, but somehow, at seventeen I still had numerous struggles with it. You would think after my grandpa being drafted to the Pittsburgh Pirates, a Major League baseball team, and my dad getting a full ride to the University of Denver their skill would have rubbed off on me, but you would be wrong. I wasn't terrible, I could hit a 90 mile per hour fastball and I could, for the most part, field a ground ball. However, I was definitely not about to be scouted by the college scouts.…

Reading through the duties and responsibilities, I believe that I would excel in this position. Looking to expand my career in college athletics, this position would provide the best opportunity for expansion. While compliance is currently my primary responsibility, the requirements of working at the NCAA Division II level have afforded opportunities to gain invaluable experience in other areas. Like all children all I ever wanted was to be big and do big people things. I engaged in a few family members that I would look up to and try everything they did. I use to pretend to go grocery shopping and being a parent at times. At the age of eight, I had worn the worst pain ever and that was watching my five, year old brother getting hit by a car while trying to cross the street riding a bicycle that had a loose chain. I remember him trying to get up and get to me, but a few adults that had witnessed the accident had told him to lay down.…

In the 4th grade I came across this quote by Benjamin Franklin “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn”. That quote has stuck with me to this day because it really made sense to me. With everything I have done it life whether it was house chores, schoolwork, or sports I have tried to apply this so I could learn to my fullest ability. Now as a baseball coach I am trying to apply this to the way I teach players. For example, if I tell a player how to throw a curveball they will forget, if I teach them they may remember, but if involve them they will learn.…

Interview on African American athlete I interviewed a high school classmate I had a couple years back. He was a standout high school star and had skills like a professional NFL Player. He was 5’10, muscular build, and 220lbs and literally carried the team on his back during his time at Hendrickson High school. It was a surprise to see him because I haven’t seen in him a while and I had a friend set us up a meeting because of his busy schedule as Texas Tech football athlete.…

My sunburn lines between my shorts and socks symbolized the restless, tiring hours spent out on the field. Every Tuesday and Thursday, for two and a half hours, the sun scorched my body while my legs would scrape into the ground. The cluster consisted of the seniors’ looming bodies that would go shoulder to shoulder against my own freshman self as our feet would battle for control. While this exhaustion enthralled and encouraged my game, the sprints, planks, runs, and more caused me to dread going to that grassy field every week. The humidity produced heavy, useless pants from my lungs as my throat would feel as if it was closing in from a claustrophobic nightmare.…

Coaches have the power to change lives. I can humbly say this as all my coaches, both good and bad, have taught me in some way what it takes to be a good athlete and most importantly how to be a good human being. They have taught me life lessons that I can only hope to preserve by instilling them into my athletes in my time as a coach. The articles I have chosen to highlight in this essay show how coaches have helped to develop character in athletes, how they pushed them to be the best on and off the field of play, and illustrate how they stepped into the lives of athletes and became so much more than just a coach.…

At some point in every person's life, they will have a special experience that will stick with them forever. One of my most memorable moments happened recently at a home volleyball game against Traverse City West. Approaching freshman volleyball season, the upperclassman spoke highly of the importance of overpowering TC West. As a ninth grader, I had the mindset that I would be playing for the freshmen team. I didn't think it really mattered what the outcome of the game would be, since we were only ninth graders.…

Being five foot eight inches tall isn’t a bad thing, unless you’re trying to play 8A high school football. Playing football at such a high level and at my size is extremely challenging. It took me some convincing at the lunch table, and after the first couple spring workouts I realized how much effort I would have to put in to make it. Through hard work and effort along with a lot of food and protein I made it on the junior varsity team.
