Personal Narrative: My First Person In High School

Improved Essays
Many years ago when I was in high school there were two people. The first person was popular and respected for his humor and kindness. His laugh and smile was contagious making everyone love him even more. Little did anyone know though what was transpiring in his head. One night his parents discovered him hanging inside their garage, with a noose around his neck. The school mourned, the teachers put on brave faces, and the students cried. About a year later the second person arrived. She was the new girl, shy and sweet she attempted to fit in. Before I knew it she had joined the swim team I was a part of. She swam and she tried as she might to belong. By the end of the season we had become friends, speaking on occasion. After the swim season had ended we rarely saw each other. A couple months down the line we ran into each other, we spoke briefly and that was the end of it. A couple weeks later her parents found her body. Just as the first had done, she decided to take her own life...however in a much more gruesome way if memory serves. However this time the school did not mourn, the teachers …show more content…
After some time I came to a conclusion. Every single person in this world has the potential to change everything as we know it. There is no telling what those two people would have done if they had lived, or the impact they would of had on the future. John Rockefeller narrowly missed boarding a train that was destined to crash and kill every passenger on board. What would the world look like today if the Oil King had perished before receiving his crown? What would the world look like today if Andrew Carnegie would not have boarded that ship to America? The loss of life and their possible futures is a tragedy. They will have no descendants, they will never know what it is to grow old, or what it will be like to have a family that loves

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. The semester before my freshman year I applied to an early college high school; I knew that I was going to have more work than if I had went to the traditional high school, but I knew I could do it. At first I was doing well, but as time went on the work became more challenging and frequent eventually my grades fell and took my pride with it. I wanted to transfer to the traditional high school in my neighborhood, but changed my mind after a talk with one of my professors. She helped me to recognize that if I quit not only would I be throwing away the work that I did do, but I’d also be preventing myself from seeing what work I could do. I took that seed of information and turned it into a tree of motivation.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…

"Success is the result of perfection, hard work, learning from failure, loyalty and persistence" I have had many ups and downs over the course of my life thus far. One specific example of this took place during my freshman year of high school. When I started high school it was very challenging for me, partially due to the fact that; during this time, I was lazy, unmotivated and did not really take school seriously. This by far is one of my biggest regrets to this day. Who would ever think that not trying during my freshman year would continue to follow me throughout the course of my academic career.…
