Personal Narrative: My Desire For Football

Since before I learned to walk I've had a desire for football. Madrid, Iowa was built on football and is known for it. I was the first child born in my family, so I didn't have an older brother to teach me how to play. My uncles took care of that by making me do drill after drill to get better, ever since I started walking. As I grew older, my youngest uncle louie and I became inseparable. I was about eight years old when he was a sophomore in high school and his football career was beginning to take off. I'll never forget the semi-final’s game in the dome that year. He was only a sophomore and he had over one hundred yards rushing and blocked two field goals. Through his high school career, he improved night and day and was the hardest worker on the field. By his senior year he was an all-state player and got a full ride scholarship to play football at Grand View University. Many people including the coaches believe that Louie could have gone Division 1 if he was a little bigger.
He has been my role model since I can remember. Even though in his freshman year of college he suffered a career ending injury, that didn't stop him. Becoming a coach was the obvious

Talent only gets people like me so far in life, therefore it's all about hard work and having the dedication to reach the goal you have set, no matter what. I have also had many struggles through my life in sports. Since I was little I've always been skinny and it's been hard to put on weight. Every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, I wake up at 5:00 in the morning to weight lift. I’ve also have been beat out by older and better players for a position. The hardest setback yet was my football coach that also coached my uncle passed away this year after thirty years of coaching. Lifting and other workouts haven't been the same since his passing, but me and my teammates have not let any setbacks stop
