Personal Narrative: My Career Interest Assessments

The assessments I took throughout this course have enlightened me to things I previously had not known about myself. Results showed that my main work value is achievement. This outcome does not surprise me as I have always felt a strong desire to finish the task at hand and feel as if I accomplished what I had set out to do. Career interest assessment results showed that Health Information would possibly be a good fit for me. Which did not surprise me as I had originally chosen Health Information Technologies as my intended major. Data entry and numbers have always been an interest of mine, which explains my original HIT degree choice as well as my change to a degree in Accounting. Strengths possessed by defender personalities include reliability, loyalty, patience, and hard-working. Procrastination, taking on a lot of responsibility, and taking things too personally are some of the weaknesses I have. Acquiring a degree in Accounting will allow me to succeed as an accountant. Job possibilities are endless as accountants are utilized in many businesses. Every business has budget and tax needs that require monitoring. Schools, non-profit organizations, stores, businesses that offer a service, doctor offices, pharmacies, and even government agencies require accountants. There are many options available to those who possess the desire and skills to work in this field. My dream job would be to work as a Tax Manager with Creative Financial Staffing in Indianapolis, Indiana. The job would require me to complete a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance and have at least 7 years of experience. To achieve this goal, I will continue my studies and earn my Bachelors in Accounting. In order to gain experience in this field I have volunteered to help with the budget for my son’s Varsity Singer’s group. In addition to that, I plan to volunteer at my local Pathfinders office to help file taxes for residents. This should give me enough experience to land an entry level job while I continue my
