Personal Narrative: Milwaukee Zoo

Decent Essays
Lions, tigers, and bears oh my! I was in the beautiful Milwaukee Zoo. My family and I were all going to have a great time on our family trip at the zoo. I have been waiting to go to the Milwaukee Zoo again for 2 years. All the animals are amazing, they do tricks and make me laugh! It was the perfect day to go to the zoo, it was sunny and warm but not hot and Graham was in a good mood, or so I thought. I can’t wait to see my favorite animals the hippo, the polar bear, the red panda, oh and you can’t forget the beautiful peacocks that roam around. There also are the awesome baby lamas and that year they had a baby leopard. I was going to have so much fun!!!!!!

It was a cold day and I had 4 layers on just to block the piercing cold wind from freezing me like a popsicle. No matter how cold it was though there was no way it could ruin this day for me. It was my first Cubs game. I had to wait outside the gates for about a hour just because I wanted to see everything. That included a concert, some Cubs merchandise shopping, and batting practice.…

The momma bear tilts her had, staring at me through angry eyes. I can almost imagine the thoughts whirling around in her huge, furry head. She's wondering if I'm a threat to her baby, protecting him like any mother should do. The cubs quite a bit smaller, with light brown fur and ears that pop up over her head. He doesn't seem afraid of me, more like curious, wanting to explore more then fight.…

The history of Poland from 1939 to 1945 primarily encompasses the Invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany to the end of World War II. The Invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany devastated a lot of people, as their resistance crumbled in the hands of Nazi leaders. The Polish were disposed through the hands of Nazis, weather through concentration camps or the bombing of the Warsaw Zoo. Through courage, luck and remarkable individuals did many survive and portray their Holocaust narrative perspectives. Antonina Zabinski was one of those survivals that assisted refuges in her zoo.…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

As we were traveling down the back roads to Le Mars, Iowa we went through so many small towns that I didn’t even know existed. My grandma, cousin, and aunt had so much fun in the car, playing games, doodling, and singing. We went by this small town that only had like 8 houses. As we got closer and closer we all were so happy to taste the fresh ice cream. When we arrived to the blue bunny museum I looked at my cousin Randi and said “ Omg I can’t wait! ”…

My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…

Animals need to have access to enrichment activities that allow them to express their natural behavior. These enrichment activities or toys aim to encourage natural behaviours such as hunting, use of scent and hiding food, provide animal welfare by increasing exercise, satisfying ‘behavioural needs’ and stimulating animals, and to promote visitor education so that visitors can gain a better understanding of their natural behaviours and interests. An example of enrichment provided to animals in captivity is the lions. Lions are given ostrich eggs or pumpkin seeds to spark their curiosity, fragrant herbs and oils to excite the senses and specially made toys to encourage natural behaviours such as hunting and stalking. Another animal which receives enrichment is bears.…
