We didn’t need to choose where we wanted to go over the winter break, my mom was very eager to go to Lake Tahoe. My sister and I just wanted to stay home and sleep, but my mom said we needed to go out, after all, she’s the one that makes us stay ome. I didn’t have a clue what Lake Tahoe was. Fortunately, the cat didn’t throw up anymore on the ride, though I felt really queasy, so I slept to try to shake it off. When I woke up, we still had two more hours and Nathan, or course, was playing video games and I found Mochi sleeping in between Nathan’s and my leg. I carefully pet him anxiously because I don’t want him to throw up anymore. One hour before our destination, it became freezing and frigid, I noticed that we were almost there and there we saw, a huge mountain of

It all began during the summer of 2015. I had just taken my beat- up fossil of a john- boat off of Gun Lake to fish in a different lake, and were going to put it back on Gun Lake at my grandparent’s house. After rinsing the multitude of worm guts and dirt out of it, we were going to put it back into the lake. My grandparent’s neighbor, Hal, got the chance to come along with me. We vaulted into what we called the “Rhino”, a quad equipped with a driver’s and passenger’s seat.…

Growing up in Vail, I would often ride the chair lift with strangers and they would ask, “Where are you from?” I would reply “here.” The people I shared the chairlift with would tell me how lucky I was, but I would just smile politely and nod, unaware of my fortune. I had grown up in mountains and didn’t know anything different. As I have gotten older and been fortunate enough to have traveled outside of my familiar mountain range, I have realized how intensely beautiful mountains are.…

When I was ten years old, I moved to West Texas. I loved swimming in the lakes and ponds around my home before, so I was disappointed when I found out that there was only one body of water near my new home. This “lake” (about the size of a football field) was called Clearwater Lake. It took about an hour’s time to drive there. The first time my family drove over there, I was amazed by how many people there were, all the cars packed liked sardines, the people moving so slowly it was like molasses.…

When we came back my older brother was the only one excited because that meant he could go swimming. We were all so hungry that we ordered room service, while my brothers were in the pool with their friends. As I sat impatiently waiting for the food, I watched all of the cars pass by. I wondered what it would be like to drive, what car I would drive, how fast I would go, where I would go, the possibilities are endless.
