The goal of a guided reading lesson is for the students to develop strategies they can apply for independent reading. It focuses on more than just the process of reading proficiently but allows for cross checking print and making meaning from the text (Gagen, 2007). How I've improved as a writer Over the term and through this course I have improved certainly improved as a writer. One of the most helpful assignments we did was the revision of paper one which allowed me to see my mistakes, fix them and see first hand how these little changes can make a big difference on your end mark. Specifically, on the first assignment, most of the mistakes I had made were simple grammatical errors including forgetting to properly capitalize the first letter after a period as well I had not used proper punctuation. Prior to taking this course, I did not what a comma splice was but after receiving I found that I had made this mistake multiple times and tried not to do it in future assignments. I put into effect all…

Who doesn’t struggle with writing? I know I always have struggled with writing, for the longest time I didn’t even really understand the differences in sentences, and it is something that’s still confuses me a little bit. To be completely honest I sometimes procrastinate longer than I should when it comes to writing, so I don’t always review the finished product the way I should. Life gets in the way occasionally, and I attempt to convince myself that I have plenty of time to finish they assignment. This particularly gave me problems in high school.…

Interpersonal communication is in our everyday lives, conversation with our friends, family, and colleagues are all examples. By definition interpersonal communication is dyadic, contains two or more people, and influences either the sender and/or receiver’s emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and relationships (Cohen 2016). Despite the fact that everyone communicates interpersonally, many people do not do it very well. Brian H. Spitzberg and William R. Cupach are two theorists who have an assessment that tests your interpersonal communication competence. The overall scoring range is from eighteen to ninety, the higher your score the more competent you are at communicating, I scored a seventy-two.…

College and career readiness for me as a future C.E.O. means having life skills and abilities such as resilience, assertive leadership, being able to learn from your mistakes, being able to challenge myself, and being able to work in groups. These skills and abilities will be important in the future, especially in college and in my career as a C.E.O., because they will personally improve myself and how I problem-solve situations. Resilience will be necessary to my future because I will need to continue working hard when I am struggling. In college, I may struggle in grasping a certain concept that I’m learning in class, but I will need to be able to keep working at the concept, asking my peers and professor for help, and studying until I have mastered my weaknesses.…

In the beginning of this subject I was stumped as to what topic I should choose for my research question. In the end, I randomly picked a question from the ‘i-xplore’ research project journal I received from my teacher. The question I chose was “How are hotels in Australia trying to reduce their carbon footprints”. However, after weeks of inactivity, I decided to change my topic to something I was interested in. The new topic I decided on was “Who were Shoguns of the 17th century and what influences did they have on Japan”.…

There are areas of development I have come to identify and recognize in myself with the help of my peers and professors. First, communication pattern: “means frequency and quality of the actual ways each group member connects with other group members” (McKinlay & Ross, 2008, p. 35). I need to attain more verbal and non-verbal communication skills, such as learning to give my full physical attention to people. Another area I need to develop more of is my organizational skills; it is important to have good time management skills together with well-developed multitasking, and great attention to detail and follow through when facilitating because this would be of a great assistant to my group members. Based on the dynamic of my group, I identified…

A good practise while learning a foreign language is the reflection. One has to think critically what are his/her own strengths and weaknesses in order to be able to improve and reach his/her objectives. The aim of this review is precisely this – I will expose the key factors of my English learning, then I will indicate the ways that I find most and less useful to learn a language, next I will list my strong points and my weak spots and finally I will give some ideas to ameliorate my command of English as a foreign language. I started studying English when I was six years old, which means I have been learning it for thirteen years. Until 2015, I studied it in two different environments: the school and a private academy.…
