Personal Narrative: I M Moving To South Carolina

Improved Essays
I'm moving to South Carolina to be closer to my mom. My son Charlie loves the thought of moving because we finally will be out of the country and next to neighbors. The neighbor to the left is very inviting, maybe too inviting. She came over and brought us a pie and offered us to come over for dinner, but I made up some excuse to not have to go. I'm not a very friendly person. Charlie told me that I was very rude. The next evening I calmly walked over to Sars house. I apologized for my selfish acts and invited her to come over for supper. At dinner, she asked why I Made the choice to move I told her family reasons, but that wasn't enough. She asked if everything was okay. ‘’My mother is very ill. She hasn't been the same. I've seen her three times this year. Each visit gets shorter and each moment with her feels less like the past.’’ I said. The next morning I was sipping at my coffee and I heard the phone ring. I answered it, It was the hospital. Immediately, I dropped my phone and ran to my car. I drove as fast as I could, it was my mom she passed. After I got home my mother's land owner called me. She said I had five days to clean out all her things. I wasn't gonna do it alone, so I walked next door to ask for Sars help. At first she was very hesitant to help, but after she saw how much pain I was in she said she would be honored. The next evening came along and we got in my car and drove to my mothers. There were so many boxes. Each was labeled with who it goes to, where it should go, or even how to give it to certain people. There was a single envelope sitting in the middle of the floor. It was labeled “My special daughter” Sar asked if she wanted me to have her open it, but I said no. I wanted to open it myself. I walked out onto the back porch and sprawled out in a lounge chair. The letter said, Dear my little Amy, I know i'm very sick and I may not make it but just know I love you. I have so much to tell you, but not enough time. The past five years have been very hard. Not being able to watch you grow really hurts. But I know you will be okay. I don't know how you're going to do this but find her. Their is a young girl that is your sister. I couldn't tell you because I didn't know her myself. I had to give her up when i was 17 years old. She is four years younger than you. Find her and cherish the moments you get with her. I love you Amy Love Mom. I couldn't catch my breath. I walked back inside and tried to explain my feelings to Sar. She asked …show more content…
“Hi my name is Coco, how may I help you?” Said the lady at the door. I told her my whole story about my mom passing and the note she left me. She asked for my mom's name and an estimate date when my sister was adopted. I told her Cary Lee and around 1980 was when she was adopted. She told me to give her about three days and I will call you. I wrote my number on a sticky note and went home. I waited and waited for the young lady to call me, but she didn't. Finally I was tired of waiting. I drove to the adoption center and asked to speak to Coco. An older looking man took me to her office. I sat in this big red chair. It was really uncomfortable, almost as uncomfortable as I was about not knowing I had a sister. Coco said she didn't find anything. I wasn't giving up. Coco gave me a few options of other men to look into. I went home and picked up Sar. We went out to lunch and talked about finding my sister and how I was gonna do it. I told her he news about Coco and her findings. We both pulled out our phones and looked up the guy's name. He lived in South Carolina we can visit him this

While a person could live for a long period of time, it is unavoidable to have changes. Ever since I was young my mother would take me to visit my grandmother during weekends and I enjoyed every moment of it. My grandmother used to buy me pizza and spaghetti for dinner and take me to play in a park nearby her house, I surely love my grandmother. However back then I couldn’t help but notice her painful face whenever she’d sit down or pick up a pencil, she would even take really long to walk up the stairs and sometimes she would also say that her legs hurt a lot after the walk. She used to tell me how she could walk to the shop across town with not a single problem, but now she couldn’t even go up the stairs without help.…

Growing up, my family and I weren’t very religious by any means. My parents grew up in Catholic families, but when they moved away from their families, they moved away from God too. Every time we were stationed in a new place, my parents always blamed not going to church on the military and how we would always be moving. My sister and I didn’t mind this, because we didn’t really know what church was, and didn’t understand the meaning of it, but when we moved to Louisiana in 2012, I met a friend that would change this. I met this girl Samantha, who seemed to be in a few of my classes.…

The day I moved to Georgia, we had been living in Texas for five years when my mom said we were moving to Georgia. I graduated my senior year from high school I thought she was lying, but she said that the VA center down in Texas was awful, and she didn’t like it there anyways, but she really wanted a better VA system. Then we started packing every month putting stuff in storage, and having to do open houses every other week, we had to clean, vacuum and take our pets with us every time we left the house until our house finally sold. Then we started looking at houses In Grovetown, also for a good school system then we waited 3 weeks for a house because we were looking at spots with upstairs and down stairs, a big backyard for or dogs, also a school…

A universal theme for me moving from Texas to California is overcoming. I was 8 years old when my family moved, and had to overcome knowing no one, a new school, and being out of my comfort zone. At this age you tend to start making good friends, all hang out in groups, and be less adventurous. My parents kept saying, “Find people who like the same things as you, and everything else will be easy”. The next week I did just that.…

Middle school can be an odd and rough time for kids, as they change from being sheltered youth to responsible young adults. I failed miserably at handling that transition. The classes taught in middle school were supposed to be easy, especially now that I look in retrospect. Yet, I regularly brought home B’s and low A’s, at best, on my report card. I had barely challenged myself in middle school, if at all.…

For two weeks, I stayed in Charleston, South Carolina. I didn’t know much about the place, except that I referred to it as an army town because that’s where my sister and her husband, who was in the military, stayed. I was reluctant to go, but Charleston had a lot to offer me; a new change of pace and some new scenery was much more satisfying than spending the two weeks stuck in Iowa doing the same old routine. The weather was mystical in Charleston.…

Moving here from North Carolina when I was four changed my life completely, I was away from my family who I lived with my whole life, thrown into a school with a bunch of kids who lived here since they were born and told to “make friends.” This changed the next 13 years of my life to something I can never picture not having. The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…
