Although creepy as it might be, I couldn’t help but watch her. Her eyes were closed, and she was swaying back in forth in time with the music. Her hands where moving as if they weren’t connected to her body. People seemed to bounce off her and even guys that she graced the pleasure of dancing with didn’t seem to be able to even scratch the surface of entering her little world. Even the lights knew to keep their distance only grazing her skin to highlight the way her fingers moved with the music or the bobbing of her head. I couldn’t think straight. With the mix of alcohol and pure nerves all I could manage was,
“Do we know each other?” She laughed. Not a giggle but a full-hearted laugh. She looked at me again and then stopped laughing.
“Are you serious?” She was glaring at me as if I had just asked her who the president was. She chuckled again and then looked back up at me, as if somehow that would make me respond with a chuckle back and let her know it was all a terrible joke. Nothing. Did I know her? We were in this nightclub with the lights flashing around us and the music physically bouncing, and here we were stopped in the middle of it. She really knew how to make the world feel much smaller than it was.
“Are you telling me right now that you have no idea who I am?” She was shouting at this point and I wasn’t sure if it was because the music was pounding at my eardrums or because she was upset. Either way it was yelling. I’m not a huge fan of yelling. I shook my head, words didn’t seem like the best option at this point.
