Reflective Essay: Sea Of Macaroni And Geese

Improved Essays
I knew something was horribly wrong when I woke up on a lemon shaped inner-tube in a sea of squishy macaroni and cheese. Ever since I was little, the smell, texture, and pretty much everything about macaroni and cheese disgusted me. Cheese was meant to be sprinkled on top of noodles, not engulf them. Looking around at the yellow encrusted rocks and the velveeta cheese waterfalls, I felt like I was living a real life nightmare.
Just over the ledge I could see what appeared to be a giant drop off. I gasped thinking to myself that this was the end and my final memory of life. The inner-tube picked up speed and I clenched my eyes shut, thinking the impact would lessen if I didn't see what happened.... "AHHHHHHHH!" I shrieked with an intensity.
SPLASH! I landed face first in a red sparkly cave in a mound full of geese skulls. At least there was no geese in this odd place I thought; I always been severely terrified of geese. The air felt thick and humid and there was a faint stench of moldy cotton candy and moth balls. As I stood up ready to slide down the mound, I instantly felt my back dripping in sweat. The cave was slowly increasing in temperature and it started shedding its sparkly skin morphing into a cave full of wonder. On the walls I noticed pictures and scenes out of different Disney movies; however, the scenes depicted the same theme, death. As I slide down the mound, it became more apparent to me that I was surrounded by different artifacts from several different Disney World rides. I saw damaged doom buggies from the Haunted Mansion, cobweb filled boats depicting the saying "It's a Small World After All," and broken animatronic pirates from the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I felt like I was in a cave full of dark Disney secrets. I looked off into the distance, puzzled. Where was I? Was there any other life in this place or was I all alone? As I stood there questioning, a yellow brick pathway appeared to me. I stared down the path with a sense of impending dread over me. The thick bushes filled with cobwebs looked ominous and filled me with a sense of uneasiness; however, I knew I had to see where this path led to. I reluctantly walked down the pathway hoping to find someone to get me out of this mess. “Hello?!” I bellowed out, secretly hoping for someone to appear out of the madness. “Is there anyone there? This place is freaky and I want out!” Out of the corner of my eye I saw some movement in the trees. Someone was watching me. "HELLO!!? I really need some help here. I want to go home!" I shrieked in frustration. "Don't you know? You aren't leaving here anytime soon." The mysterious voiced growled at me through the bushes, and I saw electric yellow eyes staring directly at me. “Who..?” I shuddered, looking down at my feet too afraid to look the creature in the eye. “Who are you? And what is this place?” “My name is Scar, prince of the Prince of the Pride Lands. You might have heard of my brother Mufasa, but as far as brains go I am the star lion

And why am I standing here with you? I feel like I’m in a never ending dream.” I exclaimed. “All Disney characters are real, and the ones that commit the most horrid acts are banished here. Obviously, you are not a character as you are small and have absolutely no charisma, but you must have done something offensive to Disney to end up in the Disney hell.” Scar mocked at me. I’m in hell?! Not even just any hell, but Disney hell?! The only moment that I believe would send me here was when I loudly proclaimed on the Disney band trip that Disney is not the happiest place on Earth and they should really take that out of their advertising, but why would that make me stuck with one of the most annoying villains in the Disney franchise? Scar was standing there with a smirk on his face, seeming to be impressed with himself that he knew information that I didn’t. “This just doesn’t make any sense. Are we alone?” I

Throughout the semester we have been taught nothing more than Transcendentalism and about how Chris McCandless survived months on end until he ate the wrong thing one day. To me Transcendentalism means letting go of everything, such as technology, to go back into the nature or roots that our founding fathers had to endure. Chris McCandless before this semester meant nothing to me because I had never heard of him or even knew that someone had done something like this. I think that this proves what Emerson and Thoreau were trying to say that the society today would never dream of letting the things that we believe are a necessity go. Did Chris McCandless live a life that was keeping with the Transcendentalist principles outlined and described…

Although the Walt Disney company seems innocent in American society, it is actually a facade hiding the ugly true purpose of the organization.
